The easiest way to potato information in Europe
2008 August, the 18th - A historical moment in crop yield information gathering. Potato business intelligence is only one click away from your desktop. With Croplook.com a new way of actual and accurate data gathering becomes within reach. For every professional in the potato industry who wants to make decisions on reliable figures with a high level of actuality. For the lowest price ever!
Croplook's data gathering starts with satellites that routinely scan radiation data from the earth's surface. This remote sensing data is processed through a unique data modell called SEBAL. This model is the only one in the world providing absolute yield numbers in killogram per hectare. Without the need of any ground support. That's why it's available in such a big area and offered for such low prices.
On the new portal www.croplook.com actuel crop information is bought easily per parcel. A parcel represents an area of 25 x 25 kilometers and can be choosen freely. Just click the parcels on the map of Europe, buy them and you get direct acces to the actual crop growth information during the whole growth season of the crop. But even when you buy a parcel after the growth season the data will be held available. Buy as many parcels as you like, the more parcels you buy the cheaper they become.
The first crop offered are potatoes. Wheat is allready possible for interested people.
First link satellite images to fertilizer
July 27, 2009 - Laboratory and knowledge institution Altic first succeeded in linking the satellite images of Fieldlook to a fertilizer. Altic this year launched a system allowing variable fertilization based on satellite imagery. The system follows potatoes during the growing season several times on the basis of development and nitrate content in leaf. This leads to an average fertilization for a field. This is the first time in the Netherlands that such site-specific fertilization is possible.
New features
July 7, 2009 - This weekend, the website is expanded to include some new features for more convenience. Thus, the choice between a season legend (real picture of differences within the field) or a week legend (differences in the field maximum visible) is made easily with one click on a button.
Also no more need to click "SAVE" after changing cropinformation and a symbol of binoculars indicates if you are looking to a field of yourself or of a fellow grower.
Belgian Province of Limburg purchases satellite information
June 10, 2009 - For several weeks Fieldlook.com is available in the Belgian province of Limburg. The Province of Limburg has the satellite information purchased from Basfood in 2009. The Province makes it possible that farmers in the province can use Fieldlook this year for free. Meanwhile there are more than 3,000 hectares subscribed by Belgian farmers.
The Belgian press has picked up this initiative. Hear and see more about Fieldlook in a nice report on: http://www.boerenstebuiten.be/default.asp?MovieId=1304
